Based on the the classic course developed by MIT, you will be introduced to all the Fab Lab processes and equipment. The course is based around Autodesk's Fusion 360 3D CAD modeling software. The course is free to participants and is fully funded by the European Union.

Course Content

Week 1

FabLab Induction & Ground Rules; Course Introduction; Software

Week 2

Fusion 360 basics - Extruding. 3D printing introduction.

Week 3

Fusion 360 basics - Revolves and primitives. Laser cutting introduction.

Week 4

Fusion 360 sculpting. 3D Scanning introduction. Personal project introduction.

Week 5

Fusion 360 basics - Sweeps. Main modeling project introduction. Personal project development.

Week 6

Fusion 360 basics - Lofting. Main modeling project. Personal project development.

Week 7

Main modeling project. Personal project development.

Week 8

Main modeling project. Personal project development.

Materials and Equipment

All tools and £5 worth materials are provided. Computer literacy is essential. Prior CAD experience is advantageous, but not required. For workshop based sessions please wear work clothing and closed toed shoes.

Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
