Learn how Rhino and Grasshopper can be used as creative tools for jewellery design. Build your confidence in computer aided design by undertaking a simple step by step project that will enable you to design beautiful artefacts that can be worn on the body. As well as designing you will also learn how to manufacture your ideas using Fab Lab Plymouth's state of the art 3D printers.

Course Content

Week 1

Introduction to software and hardware with starter project.

Week 2

Build a basic ring form using just Rhino.

Week 3

Build a complex lattice ring design.

Week 4

Complete designs, prep files for print and print.

Week 5

Introduction to Grasshopper.

Week 6

Build a bracelet making script using Grasshopper.

Week 7

Build a bracelet making script using Grasshopper 2.

Week 8

Produce personal bracelet designs.

Week 9

Complete designs, prep files for print and print.

Week 10

Completion of all work and review.

Materials and Equipment

All tools and materials are provided. No prior experience is required. For workshop based sessions please wear work clothing and closed toed shoes.

Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
